The Great Unsolved: Tupac Shakur Murder Mystery Revealed
Nearly 30 years ago, Tupac Shakur, the legendary rapper and cultural icon, met an untimely end on the night of September 13, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His murder sent shockwaves through the music industry and left a void that can never be filled. More than two decades later, the question remains: Who killed Tupac Shakur?
How did the Tupac murder happen?
The circumstances surrounding Tupac's death are shrouded in mystery and speculation. On that fateful night, Tupac attended a boxing match at the MGM Grand Hotel with Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight. After the event, Tupac and Knight were driving through the streets of Las Vegas when a white Cadillac pulled up alongside their car at a red light. Gunshots rang out, and Tupac was struck multiple times. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries six days later.
Yafeu Fula was a witness of the shooting. He was seated in the car behind the rapper when the incident happened. Later on November 10, 1996, he was found death by gunshot in a apartment in New Jersey. This caused the investigation to hit a dead end.
In 1997, Orlando Anderson, a Los Angeles gang member sued Tupac's estate for causing him infury in a brawl before the shooting. Anderson was later killed in a gang-related shooting in Los Angeles County.
Theories about the real Tupac killer
Despite numerous theories and investigations, Tupac's murder remains officially unsolved. One of the prevailing theories suggests that Tupac's death was the result of an ongoing feud between East Coast and West Coast rap factions, particularly the infamous rivalry between Tupac's label, Death Row Records, and Bad Boy Records, led by Sean "Diddy" Combs and The Notorious B.I.G. (Biggie Smalls). This theory posits that Tupac's murder was retaliation for the earlier killing of Biggie Smalls, who was shot in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles six months prior.
Another theory points to gang involvement, with speculation that Tupac's murder was orchestrated by members of the Southside Crips in retaliation for an altercation involving Tupac and their affiliates at the MGM Grand Hotel earlier that evening.
Despite these theories and numerous investigations, no one has ever been charged or convicted in connection with Tupac's murder. The case remains one of the most high-profile unsolved homicides in modern history, leaving fans and investigators alike frustrated by the lack of closure.
In the years following Tupac's death, numerous conspiracy theories have emerged, with some speculating that Tupac faked his own death to escape the pressures of fame and the constant threat of violence. However, these theories lack substantial evidence and are often dismissed as mere speculation.
The mystery revealed
In 2019, Duane Keith Davis, who claimed to be one of the eye witnesses to the shooting released the book "Compton Street Legend." It motivated detectives to resume on the case.
On September 2023, Davis is arrested with a murder charge with a gang enhancement. The Sept. 28 indictment describes Davis as the murder’s shot caller, and the person responsible for providing the weapon. Davis revealed that he wanted to revenge Tupac because he rapper had a fight with his newphew Anderson earlier.
However, this is not the end yet. We still didn't know who physically pulled the trigger. On March 14, 2024, boxer Ryan Garcia or "KingRy" tweeted that he knew who killed Tupac and he has the eveidene.
